...DO IT AGAIN :-)

You are invited! You will love the people you meet, the experience of celebrating through music and the messages straight from the Bible.

Each service offers 0-5th grade kids church.

Youth-only service for ages 12yrs-20yrs.

You will love all the different ways you can connect at highlands.

  • Events: Attend an event and you will see how  fun highlands church can be and you will get a glimpse of what it’s like to be connected with people who love Jesus.

  • Groups: In a group you will make lasting friendships.  Groups work to connect you even better with others and to help you grow in your faith. Whether you choose a community group, men’s group, women’s group, book club or any other type group, you will experience fundamentally the same thing; the adventure of placing Jesus at the center of your new friendships.

  • Fellowship Gatherings: These are great opportunities for you to celebrate and have fun together with the whole church.  Examples of regular fellowship events are potlucks and beach days.  These are great places to create' forever memories' and celebrate the life we share together.

These opportunities to connect (events, groups, & fellowship) work together to create a holistic and fully-connected experience.

Your greatest moments in life will be when you lower yourself to serve someone else.  It is in these moments when you will most embody the love of Jesus. At highlands there are many opportunities to serve throughout the year and we are always looking for someone who is ready to lend a hand.  These opportunities are wide-ranging and the way to find the perfect one for you is to simply jump in and try something new. For simplicity, we categorize these opportunities into three different areas: serving within the church, serving around the church, and serving beyond the church.

Generosity is not about the amount you give, it is about the heart with which you give.  Generosity is not related to wealth. It is a condition that anyone can embody and practice.  You don’t need more from God to be generous. You already have more than enough to be a radically generous person. And, your generosity to God through highlands church makes a huge difference in this community and throughout the world.  Families are restored. Kids are mentored. Counseling is provided. People in desperate conditions and crises are blessed with resources. Your generous and sacrificial gifts do practical and important work to save lives and bring hope.  No one else is doing the work that highlands is doing. And, without your gifts, countless people would be deprived of a key lifeline.

An "out-of-the-box" Church

Highlands’ story began with a belief that most people would love following Jesus but don’t feel they fit in a typical church.  So, in 2006, our first Easter Service was a “Sunrise Service”…at 9am. It worked! Out-of-the-box people came and called Highlands their home.  Since then, Highlands has worshipped in movie theaters, wineries, the fairgrounds, and now at our campus in the Highlands Plaza: a place where we “meet people where they are” every day.  Perhaps God is calling you to help Highlands “do what no other church is doing to reach the people that no other church is reaching.” Join us!

What is Church Membership?

At Highlands Church, our members are people who have publicly shared their faith in Jesus Christ and who are committed to living out that faith as a part of this community.

Membership classes are offered quarterly. Please contact the office for details.

                                                                                         What New Members are Saying

Marcy, our 100th member, shares thoughts about becoming a member:

"Joining Highlands has been one of the best experiences of my life. As one of the charter members, I know God had a plan for me when I first saw the sign for Highlands church on Niblick Road and decided to attend service the following Sunday. Since so many of my friends and community members are also a part of Highlands, I feel like I have finally found my family here in Paso Robles!"

What We Believe

The Mission of Highlands Church is to help de-churched people become more devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

  • Jesus Leads The Way

Our church is built upon the hope and saving grace of Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus is "the way, the truth, and the life," and that there is no other road to health and happiness, balance and wholeness, freedom and eternity except through belief in Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus is simultaneously both fully God and fully human. The power of Jesus stems from His forgiveness of our sins, His suffering and death while on a cross, His examples of love while He was in this world, and the most important, His resurrection from the dead.

  • Who is God...

The nature of God is extremely complex, but essentially consists of three persons in one being (also known as the Trinity). God as Father, God as Son, and God as The Holy Spirit. Three persons, One God. Throught the Bible, we learn that God is known by many different names. A few of these are: Adonai, El-Shadai, Ruach, Pneuma, Lamb of God, Savior, Messiah, Son of Man, and Salvation (yeshu 'ah).

  • God - The Holy Spirit

We believe that The Holy Spirit is an often overlooked but very important dimension of God's threefold nature. We believe that The Holy Spirit heals us, cleanses us, and sustains us. We believe that The Holy Spirit represents the greatest hope for the world , and is available and accessible to us through prayer, reading the Bible, through song, and through worship.

  • The Bible and Its Importance

The primary source by which we know God is through the Bible. The Bible is made up of two very different, but equally important parts; The Old Testament and The New Testament. We believe that both the Old and New Testaments are the "unique" and definitive account of God's presence and power in the world. The Old Testament and the New Testament work together to demonstrate God's love and justice. The sole basis of our belief is found in the Bible, which is uniquely God-inspired, without error, and the final authority on all matters on which it bears.

  • Creation

We believe that God created the cosmos out of nothing, fashioned both men and women in His own image and called His creation "good." We believe that humanity was made perfect and then fell from perfection as a result of its own sinful activity. Ever since humans first sinned, they have lived in a "state of sin." We believe that living in sin is both the hard reality of being human, as well as a daily resulf of our falling short of the perfection of God. Sin is separation from God, separation from one another, and separation from our self.

  • The Sacraments

There are two "sacraments" in our tradition: Baptism and Communion. We believe that they are both outward signs of the invisible grace of God in our lives. Baptism by water is a sign of a cleansing of sin and a renewing of life. Communion is the participation in and declaration of Christ's death and resurrection - until such a time when Christ comes again.

  • The Community of Believers

We believe that God works through many different types of Christian churches. Together, those who believe in Jesus Christ and who follow Christ's teachings make up the "Church Universal." We believe that God calls both men and women to serve in all forms of church leadership - including the oridnation of minister.

  • The Christian Life

Our task as Christians is to love as God loves, follow as the Holy Spirit leads, and to die and live as Christ died and lives.

  • Missional Focus

We believe that the central mission of all "Jesus-centered" churches should be to "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, and baptize them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19). At Highlands Church, we seek to carry this mission out with kindness, grace, humility, and love.

  • Denominational Partnership

Highlands Church is a member church of The Presbyterian Church (USA). The Presbyterian Church (USA) is a denomination of Reformed Tradition. As members of The Presbyterian Church (USA), we believe that we have a special covenant with Abraham and Moses (just as the Israelites did) to ultimately be fulfilled in the promise of salvation with God in heaven. To this end, we believe in and joyfully anticipate the future hope of seeing the resurrected Christ, of living with God, and of being with the Holy Spirit, gathered with all believers in everlasting life.
